Repair of petrol engines of 1.4 l and 1.6 l in an impellent compartment

This Part of the Head is devoted the repair procedures which are carried out in an impellent compartment on petrol engines of 1.4 l and 1.6 l.
Performance of the majority of works, is based on a condition that the engine is established in the car. Therefore, if this information is used at a full partition of the engine when it is already removed, many of these works will not be carried out.

The engine

The engine - 4-cylinder, рядный, with the top arrangement of a cam-shaft, is established cross-section in a forward part of the car.
The block of cylinders is cast from pig-iron. On engine E7J replaceable wet sleeves, and on engine K7M - usual dry sleeves which are drilled directly in the block of cylinders on five radical bearings are applied. In the top central radical bearing the persistent washers regulating an axial backlash коленвала are established.
Rods are fixed on коленвале by means шатунных bearings with loose leaves, and on pistons - piston fingers which are motionlessly planted in rods. Pistons are made of an aluminium alloy - and two are equipped by three rings, компрессионных and one маслосъемное.
The cam-shaft rotates in five bearings drilled directly in a head of the block of cylinders, and is resulted from коленвала by a gear belt which also conducts the water pump. The cam-shaft operates valves through коромысла, established on an axis attached to the top part of a head of the block of cylinders.

Greasing - giving under pressure from the oil pump which is resulted by a chain from коленвала.

The repair procedures which are carried out without removal of the engine from the car

a) Removal and installation of a head of the block of cylinders.
b) Removal and installation gear drive a belt and cogwheels.
Replacement of an epiploon of a cam-shaft.
d) Removal and cam-shaft installation.
e) Removal and pallet installation картера from a stamped steel.
f) Removal and installation of rods, pistons and sleeves of cylinders - the pallet картера from stamped стали.*
g) Removal and installation of the oil pump - the pallet картера from a stamped steel.

i) Replacement of basic elements of the engine

Though the actions noted by an asterisk can be executed the engine in the car (after pallet removal), nevertheless it is better to make it on the removed engine. On engines with the aluminium pallet the engine/transmission at first is necessary for removing from the car, and only then to remove the pallet картера and the remained components.
